Hello folks,
A few remarks,
RP-2. Bringing in Bets is Discouraged
Routinely bringing in chips as betting and raising proceeds around the table is poor dealing practice.
Reducing bet stacks can influence action, create confusion & increase errors. [Eliminated: Dealers
should not touch a player's bet unless a count is needed]. Only the player currently facing action may
ask the dealer to bring-in bets.
This is an issue to me, if the dealers are allowed to touch the bets, then they will reduce the bet stack, because every dealer will make the bet visible as clear as possible. They will also routinely bring the chips for every 5+ chips bets, which is much more common with Big Blind Ante since your first chiprace is around Lvl 9 and so players have plenty of chips in front of them.
RP-12: Dealers Should Announce Bets & Raises
Dealers should routinely announce non-all-in bet values as betting proceeds around the table. Allin bets will be counted only on request of the player currently facing action. Accepted action
continues to apply (Rule 49). Scheduled and discretionary color-ups improve bet countability
Let's be clear, with RP2 and RP12, it is asked to dealers to announce bets without reducing the stack size. So they have to disturb the bet pile or identify at first glance. Well, for decades every dealer knows he has to make the bet visible as clear as possible before announcing anything, those who can identify multiple chips bet without making mistakes on the long run are from fairy tales. With this recommended procedures we open a window to much more mistakes from the dealers.
RP-13: Dealers Should Stack Chips in Split-Pot Games
Where possible, dealers should periodically stack pot chips in split-pot games. Stacking chips
should not obscure players’ view or otherwise disrupt the game.
Big no. in some split games, the pot is not always splitted. Will the dealer still have to stack the chips even if not needed ?
If the dealer does not, it gives information about the game.
No need to reverse the old procedure.
Conclusion : If the goal of 2019 TDA update is to speed up the game, it is going the wrong way. The game is already quicker with big bling ante. The real fight is againt devices which disturb the players and make them lose track of the action.
Cheers
