Drawing for the button
« on: September 14, 2012, 09:02:21 AM »
In NLH, when we do a random draw (e.g. for the button), one way of doing this is to deal one card for each player at the table, and the high card by suit gets the button.

Does anyone know of any authority for drawing for low card by suit for the button, rather than high card, in lowball games that use a button such as Deuce games or Badugi?

K-Lo,

This is probably not the answer you're looking for but, because your post is under tournament rules, I'll tell you of another method. We used to automatically assign the button to the 10 seat in all tournaments. The luck of the draw for seating would also dictate the placement of the button.

If you wanted to give the button to the lowest card instead of the highest, that would be simple enough. Poker uses the standard from bridge, where the deuce of clubs is the lowest card in the deck. clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades (alphabetically), from lowest to highest.
