Chip Race - Racing off two denominations at once
« on: May 24, 2011, 01:23:32 PM »
In a case where a blinds were structure in a way where there was no need for $100 or $500 chips after a certain level (such as blinds going from 800-1600 to 1000-2000 to 2000-4000) how would you guys go about racing off both colors at once?  This happened at my old casino, and our solution was to do the regular race for the $100 and then if there were any odd $500 chips after that we would just round those up to $1000's.
Would you do it that wya or would you race the $500 after and do two seperate races?  Is there another option?

It no longer affects me but I was just thinking about it and curious what you guys thought.

I had this recently in a not so well structured event (not my structure I hasten to add!) The way we did it was to include the 500's as part of the 100 race, buying as much as possible into one stack so that each player did not have much left to race off, but there would be circumstance where it would be necessary to issue 9 cards to one player, albeit rare.

We didn't have any issues doing it that way and we did not run out of cards during any of the races, either, so all in all, a decent way of getting both chips off.

There would be nothing wrong I suppose in carrying out two races at each table, 100's then 500's either though.

Regards

I would try to structure your tournaments so that doesn't happen.  Otherwise I would have 2 races.
