New rules?
« on: May 04, 2011, 05:35:54 AM »
I know there is another place in that forum where we can post ideas to help the TDA building new rules or clear the actuals ones.

But on that "GENERAL" forum there are SO MANY CONFUSED POST who never find any CLEAR ANSWER!

Sometimes a little "majority" of members answer you that the good call was "A" but they only are the majority who answered ... maybe A BIG MAJORITY of the TDA members would have say you that the good call was "B" ... !!!

Where is the true? Am I gonna follow the "little" majority who answer me it's "A"? ... or wait for a clarification or a massive vote in 5 years? Lots of gentlemen here seems "sure of themselve" ... it's normal because it's the main characteristique of a floor: to make a decision looking "sure of himself" (I do it myself lol)!

But come on: I hope some big "webmaster", "great supervisor" or kind of "half-God" is reading all thoses deseparate posts and will soon (end of june?) help us clarify all thoses "Personnal-feeling-of-the-best-interestof-the-game-rules"!

Isn't it the main goal of the TDA? Unifiy? Even if against my own feeling (I may prefer the call "B"): if the TDA decide that now it's gonna be the call "A": I WILL FOLLOW IT WITH PLEASURE!

Once again: if I where american, believe me or not but I would work on it night and day and create the "GG rules of Poker"! Arrogant? No: desasperate!

HELP! Just do it: SYNTHESIZE ALL THAT MESS PLEASE!

Use the TDA Rules and treat your players, and dealers the way you like to be treated when you play and you will have a successful cardroom. Look over the rules and decide how you want to handle each situation and be consistant. Poker is a game that should be enjoyable and entertaining, (and even profitable for some), unfortunetly, we may never see the PERFECT set of rules you are looking for. The respect you get from your players, because of your fairness and integrity, will make your cardroom a great place to play poker.

I like your answer and that's the way I try to handle my tourneys. Just hoping the clarification of some basic situations would help us using less that #1 rule and less our personnal feeling of the "best interest of the game"!

For better introducing myself and for fun, on this video I'm the first guy speaking (for you to see the "pleasure first" orientation of my tourneys): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeJg9eL4mKo

Great video! It looks very well organized, and the players all look to be enjoying themselves. I wouldn't change anything if I were you. You are obviously doing it right.

Thanks so much.

This one was a 1502 players day1 (there where another room near that one). But we manage more often 500 players or sometimes live final tables of online tourneys out of the french territory.

The point is: when we work out of casinos on the french territory ... WE WORK SOMETIME WITHOUT DEALERS (like the tourney you saw)!

I got 30 floor managers with me for the 1500 players (!!!) ... so you understand the importance for us to follow the evolution of the rules via the TDA? With ONE FLOOR MANAGER FOR EACH 50 PLAYERS WITH NO DEALER ... WE NEED TO BE STRONG IN RULING ALL THAT!

That's why you see me sometimes running here to catch your advices!

With best regards,
GG

looks an impressive set-up, I wish we could host events like this in the UK outside casinos, but the gambling laws prohibit gambling for more than £5-£10 per person outside casinos without casino non-remote licence holder endorsed permits, end result is poker suffers and goes underground somewhat.

I can see what you mean with self deal, I have the exact same problems with large self dealt events, simply flooring to ensure they run relatively smoothly.

I don't know if you are interested but I adopted the TDA rules into our rules last year after some gentle prodding was successful, they are specifically designed for self-deal games, simplified in places, to ensure rules are followed effectively without being overwhelming to the layman.

anyway, if you want to view them you can click on the link below.  You will likely note that the majority are more or less word for word on the TDA rules.  There are a few errors, which I haven't managed to convince my seniors to change yet, but they work pretty well.

All in all from what i've saw, and for being a self deal event, I am impressed!
