Prior bet chips not PULLED IN?

I understand the pulled-in discussion but the first time I read it (long time ago) I was thinking prior bet from prior round.  I do understand what we are describing but, like Nick was describing,  I was wondering if there would be a better description like " retracted or pulled back during a betting round"?
