Hello there,

I am looking to host a cash game and was wondering what would be the best method to use for a home cash game? Dead button seems easier to understand and I sort of understand the moving button but I get confused when it comes to multiple players eliminated or down to less than 5 players.

I have heard someone else say that in Vegas poker rooms, they use a variation to where the button just moves to the next player like a forward moving button rule but with the same blinds posted like dead button? Is he right? Would this be more logical to use?

Any thoughts? If someone could explain the forward moving button rule please also that would be great!

As far as I can remember, Las Vegas always uses the dead button rule.

The moving button might be easier to use when multiple players are knocked out of a hand.

I have a great diagram that makes it simple to follow. When I find it, I will post it.

It sometimes requires two small blinds.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your reply. Would you say that moving button is better for cash games then? That link you sent me doesn't work, it just opens up my Yahoo mail. Is there another way you could send it please?

Thanks.

Nick C

I guess I'm having trouble sending this to you, sorry. If you give me your email address, I will send it.

Hi Nick,

Yes well I can't view it and no problem, I sent my email and private messages you, do you have it?

Thanks.

Also to mention, what happens if say the BB goes bust and then buys back in, if buy the button is not allowed then they wait for the button to pass. Once the button passes once and they are in any position other than the BB, SB and button do they only post the SB to be dealt in and only make up another SB when the action is on them to call the BB?

W0lfster,

if I'm following you correctly...when the BB goes bust and on the next hand rebuys he would simply post the small.

I believe you are refering to the BB busts, misses the next hand and then rebuys. I believe he must wait 2 hands for the button to pass and then post a dead SB... meaning he would have to put in the "full" amount of the bet he is facing. His SB is part of the pot, but not recognized as part of his bet.

I hope this helps.

If you sent me an email...I never recieved it.  Here is my email address: nickcav123@yahoo.com
