Dealer Fouled Stub
« on: November 08, 2011, 08:10:15 AM »
This is causing a stir on a facebook forum:

Two players see a flop, and both go all-in with 3 diamonds on board, A has JsJc B has KdQc (From memory) at this point dealer thinks hand is over, drops stub, and mixes stub with board, muck and burn.

For me I would re-create the board and try to have some kind of turn and river from a re-constructed stub formed, which would have to include the burn and muck cards as there is no way i'm picking out players mucked hands from the mess, that's not what happened though. How would you all deal with it?

This is an hard situation.  ;D
So, let's try to sort it out.
I think that the best two options you have are:

1) stop the hand, give chips to the proper players and declare the hand dead.
2) try to reconstruct the board and go on with the hand. I stop at this cause I can't really, really really figure out how can you burn and turn the 4th and 5th street with a stub containing players' folded cards.

Is option 2 in the best interests and fairness of the game? I think not... but also option 1.

So definitively i think we should adopt the best of the two

I would adopt the first one.

#EDIT
oh, and by the way, fire the dealer lol

#EDIT2
I had a talk with 2 other TD's and we agree that this hand must be declared dead and chips returned back

Stuart,

Stuart,
I could easily agree with Linker_split on this one. The decision is easier because there are only two players in the hand. My guess is, neither player would object to either 1 or 2.

The example given is made much easier by the flop. If the flop came KKQ or J 99, that might put a different twist to this mess.
It would be very difficult to take away the proper flop, so I might lean towards #2 and try to reconstruct the stub.

Icky situation.

First question is, do you know what the board cards are? You know the hole cards for the players, but what are the board cards?
If you can determine the exact board cards, you reconstruct and the run the rest of the board. It doesn't matter that the muck and burn is mixed in with the stub. The odds are the same for JsJc to hold against KdQc because all of the mucked/burn cards are unknown.

Chopping the pot and moving on is the easy way out IMO.
