Cards thrown face up in the muck
« on: January 02, 2020, 06:43:44 AM »
Hello,

5 players left in a Sit & Go, special prizes in points for each rank.

UTG shoves, fold, fold, fold, BB did not see the shove and, thinking he has a walk, throws his cards face up in the muck showing AA !

The table discuss and call the TD. What do you do as TD ?

Thanks and feel free to ask for better englih if needed :)

The cards can be returned and played.

But the player should get a warning or penalty after the hand.
Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown.
But how much does it cost to knock on wood?

I would agree with Dave Miller. We know that cards tossed into the muck are dead. However, in the original post it was indicated that the player in question mucked a pair of aces face up. Decision making by the floor can be difficult at times. There are so many rules that we can easily find a reason to go either way. The most important factor when making a floor decision, for me, was the intent of the offending player? Was there any suspicious intent? Collusion? I don't think so. Who would fold aces in that situation? I rule the hand plays.

if he had thrown face down and the cards did not touch the muck.
Can you return your cards?

Student dealers that I've trained are taught to protect the muck from situations like the one described. The intent is to isolate the errant discards from touching the muck, making them clearly identifiable.

Thanks for answers, I also prefer to let the hand alive with penalties.

But, his made an action as fold, on which rules TD can say this card is live?

For example, player instantly realized that there is a live hand right after he throws cards to the muck??
