dealer shuffled cards during a game
« on: April 03, 2010, 02:00:49 AM »
player 1 and 2 have their cards. bet, call and the flop comes.
After the flop player 1 checks, player 2 bets real big and put his chips in. player 1 is thinking but in the meanwhile the dealer accidently starts shuffleing the deck of cards in his hand.
Player 1 said thats not oke and demands that player 2 takes his bet back, and just play for the pot size before the flop.
My question: what to do when the dealer makes this move, what is the rule about money what is already in the pot. How to play further???

Lonebird:

What a horrible situation!

What's important as usual is a mis-deal should be avoided in the best interests of the game.  Player 2 has made substantial action post-flop so for the best interests of the game the hand must continue in some way or form.

The TDA has not a rule to deal with the situation however RROP covers it nicely:

17. If the deck stub gets fouled for some reason, such as the dealer believing the deal is over and dropping the deck, the deal must still be played out, and the deck reconstituted in as fair a way as possible.

Best Regards

Interesting situation. You could just continue play with the shuffled deck. No one knows the cards that would have come originally, so who is to say they were different from those that are dealt with the newly shuffled deck?

Listen to what Stuart tells you, and then get the dealer out of the chair and out of the building ASAP! How do you start a new shuffle when players still have cards?
