I haven't had this situation come up before, but was just thinking about it and thought I'd ask.
Let's say in this example that $100 chips are still "in play", but the blinds are $500/$1000 and in this particular case there are no $100 chips in the pot.
The hand is being split between 2 players with the same value hand.
If there is an odd chip, I understand it would go to the players closest to the left of the button. But in the case of one odd $500 chip, since $100's are still in the game, would you make change and give $200 each and then give the odd $100?

pbrannon,
If the $100 are still in play then yes, you would colour down a $500 and send the odd $100 to the first player splitting after the button.

Absolutely, as long as $100 cheques are still in play. The only thing that I'd like to add is if the game in question was Omaha High-low 8 or better, then the odd $100 would go to the winner of the high hand. Of course, I'm sure you were referring to hold'em.
