Title: Going all-in while calling final betting round
Post by: Nick C on March 05, 2018, 11:42:04 PM
Simple situation:

Five players remain...final betting round.

Alice bets 500
Bill folds (No pun intended)
Carl calls 500
David calls 500 all-in
Eddy folds.

Because David was all-in does the showdown rule apply for all players to table their hands?

Hello Nick,

Since there is an all-in player at showdown, all live hands must be tabled.

Yes, no further betting is possible because everyone has acted and it's the final round.

I agree. Rule 16:

Quote
16:  Face Up for All-Ins
All hands will be tabled without delay once a player is all-in and all betting action by all other players in the hand is complete. No player who is either all-in or has called all betting action may muck his or her hand without tabling. All hands in both the main and side pot(s)must be tabled and are live.See Illustration Addendum

Okay, I can certainly agree with that, but how many times does a player announce he or she is all-in when calling? ;D

I believe that that should be the dealer's responsibility to notice and announce that. Or at least announce it when all betting is completed.

I agree. I'd like to see dealers take on a more meaningful role. Nothing like a well-trained dealer taking charge at the tables! :)

Hire dealers who know how to count. This should do the trick :D

Hi Boris,

Yes but the TDA does not ask dealers to count every bet. Like the song says: "There'll be time enough for counting when the dealings done"! Unfortunately, you might be asking too much for some dealers. Now, the dealers I trained...well that's a different story! ;)

Nick,

I see what you mean.
TDA does not recommend to bring chips to count but dealers can do visual count.
