Chip race chips
« on: January 28, 2014, 05:44:40 AM »
Hello,

During a long time when we were doing chip races, we used to introduce chips of TWO values bigger than the one we were retiring. For example with chips of 25 - 100 - 500 - 1000 - 5000 etc ... When retiring the chips of 25 we introduced the chips of 500. Then retiring the chips of 100 we introduced the chips of 1000 etc.

But recently and more & more we introduce chips of THREE values bigger: 25 being replaced by 1000 chips and 100 being replaced by 5000 etc. We do that because most of our starting stacks include many chips of the first three values (like 8x25 8x100 4x500 for example) then with the eliminations, the left players have enought of those 3 first values!

What are your habits? TY

I don't have a set number.  I vary it depending on the event/number of players.

I generally decide which chip to put in play depending on starting stacks. What chips do the players need most before the next color up?  But usually I put in chips that are three values higher if it's a No-limit or Pot-limit game. If it's a limit game, then I will put in chips that are two values up in the early stages of the tournament and three values up in the later levels.

Varies, most of my structures start with 100, 500, 1000 & 5000's so with tables braking and chip racing 100's etc I'd just be introducing the next value, say for example 10000, but sometimes I'd just be adding more 5000's.

I do try to keep high denominations off the tables until such time as tables are more tightly managed, especially 25,000's which I would never put out early on, simply because there's far too many players roaming around.

If I'm racing off 25s I never use 100s.  Most of the time I will be using 1000s here, but may use 500s if it's a small starting chip stack, like 4000 or less starting.
