Tournament Chips
« on: April 11, 2012, 04:06:15 PM »
I am thinking about putting together a proposal to get a new set of tournament chips for our mega events. Right now we use the same Tournament chips for the poker room, Blackjack tournaments, and as a value token in our bounty tournaments. This seems ludicrous to me but many others feel that this is the norm. Anyone who works or plays at casinos or clubs, do you often use/see different chips for the bigger events as opposed to regular daily tournaments? Or do you use the same chips for every game you run all year round? I just feel like the chances of us getting cheated are way to high to ignore.

Spence,
If your budget allows new chips, go for it. Make them different from any others and keep them under lock and key. Then you don't have to worry when you find out that the black-jack tourney came up short 50,000 in chips!

Spence,

Of course it would be preferable to have a separate set of all chips, but if not practical, I would at least consider having separate high-denomination chips for the different events.  Having different 5K, 25K, 100K tournament chips is probably much more important than having different 25s or 100s, especially if it is much easier to obtain the higher-denomination chips in one type of event than another (whether because of differences in buy-in, or people just start out with those big chips in one event earlier than in others) thus giving cheaters that much more of an incentive to pocket chips from one event for use in another.

Very good advice K-Lo, thanks!
It will be a much easier sell if I only need the higher denominations which is where I am most concerned

if they won't stretch to new chips wheel checks are another option for different denomination chips, or have cheaper chips for SNG's, and Side Games
