Does Dealer pull in antes before or after the green button is pushed on auto shuffle tables? What about when physical shuffling is done.?

Always been my experience that antes are collected AFTER the shuffle or the green button is pushed.

In a tournament it makes a difference at the end of a level - blind increase, reentry, add on. Collection before physical shuffle or before green button delays the start of the hand. For some reason at the local club they collect the antes after the physical shuffle but when the auto deal is used, before pushing the green button. Perhaps minor point but . . .

I agree with Chet.

Plus, dealers can spot missing antes while shuffling and ask players to post which make the shuffling time profitable.

Totally agree.

LOL! Gotta remember that one.

But how much does it cost to knock on wood?

NoMatt,

Not sure about the procedure using auto-shuffle but the correct dealer procedure for the physical deal is: The dealer will call for antes while shuffling..." antes please" is the accepted method. The dealer will position the cut card and cut the deck onto the cut card, make any necessary change to correct ante amount and sweep all antes into the center (using both hands) complete the cut by picking up the remaining deck stub and placing it forward on top of the portion of the deck already seated on the cut card, place the deck into your left hand (for right-handed dealers) and begin dealing!

Sounds complicated but the whole process takes seconds.
