Hand Recognition

(1/1)

BROOKS:
Does anyone know of any sites or apps that would help new poker dealers with Omaha hand recognition?
Before they can get to the table test, they need to pass a written test and hand recognition.
It shows a board and 2 Omaha hands, and you have only a few seconds to determine which hand is the winner, and what their hand is.
Been looking online and can't seem to find anything to assist with this.
Closest I could find was an android app called "What's the nuts", which helps you identify the nuts (which in turn does help with reading Omaha hands)

Hi Brooks,

This probably isn't exactly what you're looking for but about 10 years ago I created a simple CD that was very effective with all of my students. I called it "The Nuts" It consisted of approximately 30 hands. The CD was accompanied by a written sheet that listed the best possible "holding" after the flop, turn, and river. Each hand would consist of three images.

I used the same CD for Hold'em...Omaha and Omaha High-Low. I've been using it ever since. I was surprised at how useful it has been as an instructional gauge when it came to a students understanding of the difference between each game. If you're interested, I could send you a CD along with the answer sheet.

Dave Miller:
Interesting.
Any chance you can post it for download?

BROOKS:
Thanks Nick, but I'm creating a power point replica of what the hand recognition test would be like.
The android app seems useful, almost like what you've done with your CD.
