All-In after the river
« on: January 28, 2016, 01:35:49 PM »
Rule 15 states that - All hands will be tabled without delay once a player is all-in and all betting action by all other players in
the hand is complete. No player who is either all-in or has called all betting action may muck his hand.

That's mean that if Player A pushes all-in after the river and player B calls than both players have to show their hands. But if Player A bets almost all his chips (leaving one chip behind) after the river and player B calls than player B does not have to show his hand.

What is the logic behind forcing Player B to show his hand if it was all in bet?

Thank's

Avoid collusion, chip dumping and speed up the game.

Thank you Max but your answer does not explain the difference between the two scenarios.
If player A leaves 1 chip behind it can not be a collusion or chip dumping?

It allways could be!
Some house rules say that 10% or less lefr behind is also an all-in.
So it is not poosible to leave one chip behind.
Nick here in forum is a speaker for showdowns of all live hands to distribute the pot to the winning hand.
But it is not the tda rule! Just in an all-in situation all players MUST show their cards.

Shimi664, IMO your question reveals the unsound reasoning of those who believe that Rule #15 somehow prevents collusion and chip dumping.  I cannot imagine two cheaters that would be foolish enough to fall into this "foolproof trap."  Still, as you will see, there are several forum members who disagree and believe in this fallacy.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion.  I believe that real cheaters are smart enough to fold off there chips to their partners.  Maybe we should make a rule that says you must always show your folded hands?

with the one chip left behind you are right it does show that rule the doesnt really work for colusion or chip dumping.  I personally like the rule  for the speed of play, this avoid the slow rolls of players trying to see if they have won or not, but you can always argue that when people are not all all-in we do not have that rule of showing all the cards...  Might not be the best rule and will have a lot of people on both side of the fence...

Hopefully another member can better explain it.
