Title: Bad Beat Jackpot eligibility for RxR
Post by: Steve C on February 12, 2014, 12:27:16 AM
Hello. First time poster. Was just wondering, does anyone allow their Bad Beat Jackpot to be won during the NL holdem round of RxR ( NLholdem/PLO)

Hi Steve, great question.

In my last room we had a Holdem BB bu no Omaha jackpot.  We allowed the BB to be won on rounds that holdem was being played.  We didn't seem to find any difference between Holdem run on a regular cash game rather than a mix game.

On the other hand,  I played in a card room in Vancouver that had both a Holdem BB and an Omaha BB but the mix game was not eligible for winning the BB.  The BB was not collected from the game and they were very specific to players that the mix game was not eligible.

We allow it on our mix games.

Thank you for the response guys. We do allow in our mixed games (Caesars Windsor), but was just wondering what other poker rooms were doing.

We would not allow on our mixed game, but that is because games that include Omaha are played on a timed rake and Hold'em is played with a pot rake.

If you want to collect on Hold'em round and not on Omaha round, that's your prerogative of course.

A similar question:

Most BB jackpots award to the winning hand, the losing hand and then under various situations a table share.

For the sake of this question lets assume that all tables from which the BB rake is collected are eligible for a table share.

1.  If the RxR table is on a hold'em round when the BB Hits, are they eligible for a table share?
2.  If the RxT table is on an omaha round when the BB Hits, are they eligible for a table share?
3.  If the RxR table is between rounds, hold'em just ended but omaha hasn't yet started (in other words, the dealer has not yet started the 1st riffle), which "officially" starts the next hand, are they eligible?
4.  Just the opposite situation from 3, last hand omaha, but dealer as not "riffled" to start the hold'em round, are they eligible.

If you don't have answers to the above, then I suggest you develop some House Rule(s) to cover them so both the House and Players are protected.

Chet,
Maybe I'm understanding correctly but do you mean room share?  Like if I'm on table 5 and the BB goes on table 3 you get a share.  I know a number of rooms that do this.  I would assume that mix game tables would NOT be eligible for room share for exactly the reasons you outline above.  It would be a nightmare.  If you do have a hold'em BB and it hit's on a hold'em round in a mix game that does still take the BB rake then it should be eligible for that table.  Does this make sense?

Spence:

I don't know that I like "room" better than "table", the reason being that in several places I go to, there are different games being spread, some of which are eligible for the BB and some of which are not.  To make things even more confusing, I know of a situation where two different poker rooms, in two different casinos, "Share" the BB Jackpot and if it hits with eligible games in both locations the players in both locations get part of the BB.

In these places, the mixed game tables are not eligible for the BB.  In essence only the limit and no-limit tables participate in the BB.

Semantics...  I just wanted to be sure we were on the same page.  Maybe Game share is a better term?
